The Biggest Novels of 2012 - The Guardian

Posted in

The Guardian newspaper has recently published a wonderful online interactive guide to what it claims are "20 of the most talked-about novels so far and to come" this year.

I thought I would check and see how many of these books we have in stock (all of the nine so far published as it happens), so here is the list of titles mentioned by the Guardian, and so far published, with links to the library catalogue entries informing as to availability:-

p.s. Titles may need to be reserved if already on loan, this you can do online of course.

(I have to thank our friends from Manchester Libraries on Facebook for bringing the Guardian article to my attention)

I hope you'll be getting

I hope you'll be getting Boneland by Alan Garner in when it's available!

Glad to report that

Glad to report that 'Boneland' by Alan Garner is in fact on order and we await delivery of a number of copies for our branch libraries. Check this catalogue link now and then for availability.

I'll second that! And let's

I'll second that! And let's hope The Moon of Gomrath (Boneland continues the story of the characters many years later) - is still available too!

Yes! The Moon of Gomrath is

Yes! The Moon of Gomrath is still available, but only just! I have identified one copy in Charleville Mall library that is right there on the shelf as I write! The other copy listed as on loan is in fact long overdue, unfortunately sometimes books do not come back to the libraries despite efforts to retrieve, which is a terrible pity.

Libraries today should have

Libraries today should have these books. THese books are good to read and students will indulge into reading. I am a graduate of Creative Writing and I used to be a library lady. I mean, I am always in the library to read novels and asked the librarian if there were any new books. Aside from that, I used to write essays for money so that it can compensate my studies. And library was the perfect place for me to read a lot of books and write afterwards.
