GT-006 Oh Letty

Oh! Letty is a musical comedy that was performed at The Gaiety Theatre on April 18th, 1938.  In Oh! Letty, a wealthy manufacturer (Mr. Simmons) attempts to marry off his daughter to his partner Chester, an innocent, timid man.  The daughter however, has fallen in love with another, more experienced man.  In order to woo the daughter, Chester, at Mr. Simmons urgings, starts a rumour that he had an affair with film star Letty Lythe.  Trouble arises, however, when Letty and her jealous boyfriend arrive in town.

This programme contains photographs of the play’s stars: Dorothy Ward, Frederic Bentley, Mai Bacon, Bertram Dench, and Beryl Seton.  The programme heralds the musical as ‘a glorious piece of fun, with a terrific fight in the dark’ and notes that ‘if you want to keep in close touch with the up-to-the-minute West End gowns and the latest "smart set" dialogue, you can’t afford to miss Oh Letty’.
