We lived in Francis St,

We lived in Francis St, opposite the Haltons, and were very friendly with them. Carmen's Hall school was on one side of Halton's shop and a cloth factory on the other. Francis St was a very self-sufficent community that time, with draperies, groceries, butchers, pubs, electrical suppliers and cakes shops, together with factories, schools, and a great big church in the middle of it all.
